Caty — a self-hosted messenger by OÜ Catyonic · Effective date: April 19, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Caty ("the App", "the Software") and related services provided by OÜ Catyonic, a company registered in Estonia (registry code 17463508), located at Madara tn 9a, 10612 Tallinn, Estonia ("we", "us", "our"). By installing, purchasing, or using Caty, you agree to these Terms.
Caty is a self-hosted messenger client. We provide client software that connects to servers you operate on infrastructure you obtain from third-party providers. We do not operate servers that process your communications. You are responsible for your own server, your own data, and your own infrastructure.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Caty on devices you own or control, for lawful purposes, according to the tier you have purchased:
The license is for your personal or internal business use. Redistribution of our binaries, source code, brand assets, or commercial exploitation of our software requires separate written permission.
You agree not to use Caty to:
Because Caty runs entirely on your own infrastructure, we do not monitor or moderate your usage. However, violation of these terms is a violation of the license and may result in termination of support, updates, and future access to our services. Certain violations may also be reported to appropriate authorities where we are legally required to do so.
You are solely responsible for:
License fees are one-time payments. Prices are shown at purchase and may change for new customers. Your purchased tier remains valid indefinitely for the major version you purchased and any minor updates or security patches within that version.
Refunds: We offer a 14-day refund window from the date of purchase if the software does not work as described or you decide it is not for you. Contact us at contact@catyonic.com to request a refund.
Major version updates: New major versions of Caty may be offered as separate paid upgrades. You are not obligated to upgrade — your existing version continues to work on your infrastructure indefinitely.
Optional agent subscription: An optional yearly subscription (currently €39/year) allows our AI agent to perform automated major version updates on your server. This subscription is independent of your license and can be cancelled at any time; cancellation does not affect your underlying software license.
Our AI concierge (guided setup assistance) and AI agent (automated server setup and updates) are provided as a service. The AI may:
You are responsible for reviewing and understanding any action the AI proposes. You may decline any action, complete setup manually, or revoke AI credentials at any time. We are not liable for errors, downtime, or data loss caused by AI-executed actions you authorized.
OÜ Catyonic and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in Caty, including the brand, logos, design assets, and AI service infrastructure. Where source code is provided under the Complete or Sovereign tier, your rights to that code are governed by the accompanying license file. Parts of Caty are derived from open-source projects; their original licenses apply where indicated in the source.
Caty is provided "as is" and "as available". While we design Caty for privacy and reliability, no software is perfect. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation.
We do not guarantee that Caty will operate without errors, that bugs will be corrected, that any particular feature will continue to be available, or that Caty will be compatible with any specific third-party service or infrastructure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall OÜ Catyonic be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use Caty.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of Caty shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OÜ Catyonic, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Caty in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
You may stop using Caty at any time. Because Caty runs on your own infrastructure, uninstalling the App or shutting down your server ends your usage immediately. We may terminate your license and access to our services (updates, AI concierge, AI agent) if you materially breach these Terms, including the acceptable use provisions in Section 4.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be communicated via email to recent customers where possible. Continued use of Caty after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of Caty shall be submitted to the courts of Estonia, unless local consumer protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
